Palm Springs

Carter is introducing Palm Springs, a midcentury-inspired collection of upholstery and accent tables by designer Michael Wolk.

Wolk said the Palm Springs Collection is inspired by examples of mid-century art, architecture and furniture found in the California resort city and describes the group as “new-century modern.” Pieces feature exposed wood legs and arms, midsize conversation-pitched seating with swivel bases and accent tables with an ebony finish. Pieces are named after the architects, writers and actors who have worked or lived in Palm Springs.

“I wanted to bring the same vitality, exuberance and style to the collection that they brought to Palm Springs,” Wolk said.

Wolk, a graduate of The Pratt Institute, is based in Miami and has designed and built furniture for celebrities including John Lennon and Yoko Ono as well as for movie sets, country clubs, restaurants and commercial properties. He is the author of “Designing for the Table.”

“This collection exudes the hip, party vibe of Palm Springs,” said Rod Lambeth, CEO of Tomlinson. “It takes us back to a time when friends gathered for conversation and cocktails. In our tech-heavy society, people today want that type of connection and these pieces encourage conversation. We are fortunate to have a talent of the caliber of Michael Wolk design the collection for us.”

Tomlinson is hosting a reception for Wolk at the 525 N. Wrenn St. showroom on April 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Buyers are invited to attend.
